I'm putting pen to paper to thank and congratulate you and your team for carrying out such an excellent job in converting our septic tank at Lilliput, Poole.

It was in March this year we received a visit from our local 'environment & consumer protection services' informing us that members from our local golf club were complaining of strong sewage smells from the local brook.

It transpired that these smells were originating from our septic tank which discharges via a soakaway into said brook.

Now, having lived in the same property for 26 years with a septic tank that has performed satisfactorily during that time, we were concerned (to put it mildly), especially when legal action and fines were threatened.

Well, we tried all routes to solve the problem. It was clear that our soakaway had given up the ghost and there seemed no easy solution. Space was at a premium and precluded a new soakaway being installed; furthermore it looked like a massive bill to get into the main sewer system a quarter of a mile away. Senior citizens tend to be strapped for cash anyway.

We were relieved but sceptical when 'id' came up with a solution which we could afford. It looked too good to be true!

Well here we are 6 weeks after the installation of 'Big Bertha' (we call her) and she's chugging away quietly and delivering extremely clear, completely odourless effluent day-in and day-out. I've almost given up checking her out... She's totally reliable.

What we can say is that this biological treatment system manufactured by Mantair and installed so efficiently by 'id' has been a godsend.

Dear Sirs,

I write to express my appreciation of the work carried out recently at our property.

From answering our initial enquiry in May until completion of the work at the end of August, I have been impressed by the professionalism of your staff and service. The report that was issued following the survey was accompanied by a well-presented video showing clearly the matters of concern in the foul drainage system. The costs estimated were reasonable and only for the work necessary to be undertaken. It was pleasing to be informed following completion survey that other work that was identified as necessary – remedial actions did not need to be taken. As I am not an expert in these matters I would have not known if I had been informed otherwise – the integrity shown by your staff in not undertaking unnecessary work is exemplary.

Particularly Mark and Phil, the two gentlemen who carried out the major part of the work, behaved with great sensitivity to our needs, took immense care of our garden and completed their work tidily and without fuss. Ben who carried out the surveys took great pains to explain all elements of the work necessary and was available readily to answer any queries we had.

It is a pleasure to write this letter to the directors of Independent Drainage Ltd who deserve commendation for creating such a fine example of the sort of service sadly lacking in today’s business world. The company, its directors and staff deserve continuing success and will be recommended by us when asked.
